Why? Why not?

First off - I'm new to "blogging" BUT I don't mind writing. The need to document my journey is inspired by a desire to see my mom, and truly makes this a worthy cause of my effort. (The photo is of me with my mom enjoying a beautiful sunset on Sanibel Island 2015.)

I also recognize that after 18 months of quarantines and attempted teaching in a new and challenging environment, I need to do something drastic to REBOOT my person. I am NOT the same individual from March, 2020. I honestly don't think any of us is... I have always considered myself a "strong" and "optimistic" woman - having divorced, raised my two sons on my own, changed jobs a couple times, and moved across the country. Those experiences were challenging. Yet, this pandemic and all it brought has kicked my ass.

I am tired, spent and 20 pounds heavier.

I have always loved to travel - often limited by time and expense - and most recently, by this world halting pandemic. I have not seen my mom and eldest son since Christmas, 2019. This is the longest I have ever gone without seeing Benoit. I am thankful that Nicholas has moved back home because of the pandemic - albeit temporarily. I'm certain I find more comfort in our daily connection and interactions than he does on the daily.

I plan to do more traveling during my summer breaks starting this year. Both of my sons are off my payroll, and so now I am afforded the opportunity to make those travel plans. I'm not going to wait until I retire. "Life is to short..."

So, summer 2020 my travels begin by quite literally traversing the USA. From Fairview, Oregon through to Willimantic, Connecticut. Follow along with me if you'd like, but if you are looking for a literary masterpiece...this isn't my intention. Rather, reflection through time, nature and reconnecting with family and friends with my faithful sidekick is my simple plan. I'm hoping for healing and rejuvenation through journaling for my own well being.

And.... I'm ok sharing it with you.
