The approach into Colorado, from the edge of Utah. Stunning. This stop is totally about visiting Mel. They are a gift...hard working, truth-telling, realistic, and as compassionate a person can aspire to become. Elyse, you "done good"...and well, Mel - you've worked hard to get were you are and I am proud of you. AND, I had a blast...I swear that was water and not vodka? ; )

I was also incredibly well fed the entire visit - Anaaf is an incredible cook and I was happy to test my palate with her Middle Eastern recipes...here are a few pictures. I know we had lamb, and a sophisticated quiche/omelette...but, I couldn't tell you the exact name of the recipes. We also barbecued all sorts of goodies that had been marinated, cut/chopped/prepped to perfection. These incredible people are passionate about cooking, and it is evident!

Having enjoyed a day of catch-up, memories and laughter, Mel and I took to the trails. Well, that was the initial plan. Good grief, I couldn't breath! That elevation and lung capacity thing is real. We decided to just enjoy the Red Rocks Amphitheater and Lookout Mountain. Both perfect vantages that capitalize on Colorado's beauty. I can't even imagine the sound of music at Red Rocks! What a venue - might have to return for that sound!

Sassenach also made a friend that kept her busy and active for a full three days! Kat's dog Poe is a beautiful Blue Heeler. Sassenach also loved on her cousin Mel as much as possible! Mel, thank you for your hospitality. I always love spending time with you! Until next time, mon ami!

Best part of the day? Worst part of the day?

Best: Mel.

Worst: Wrenched my back, but it has to be FINE.

Lesson Learned: Remember to let Sassenach out throughout the day if we are visiting someone's home. I am used to having that doggy door where she has the freedom to go in/out of the house so I don't have to remember to walk her throughout the day. We are good now--thanks for your patience Mel!
